Half Sense and One Eye
Filed under: Uncategorized; No Commentsby Anthony N. Wade
It was my first trip to New Mexico, USA. I was visiting there to do a series of meetings as well as reconnect with some friends that had moved there. I was instrumental in leading one of my friends to The Lord Jesus Christ. As normal I sang a couple of songs and commenced to minister the Word of God. During the ministry of the Word I would often used different sayings that to me aided in illustrating my points of view. One of those quotes I picked up from a minister that was very instrumental in my being in the ministry today. The saying I used was to expound on how simple some things are when comes to living our life for the Lord.
I used the saying that if a person had ‘half sense and one eye’ during my message. Little did I realize that that there was a man with one eye in the service. What was so amazing was not only was this man blind, but he wore a black patch over one of his eyes. In retrospect if I had scanned the congregation thoroughly enough I would have seen this man and never used that illustration. He was very noticeable, especially with a black patch on one of his eyes.
The pastor of this church confronted me about using the expression that I used. I apologized and told the pastor it was a slip of my tongue. What is the moral of this story? We should be aware of others in our presence that we could potentially hurt, offend, or put off by repeating something that we heard someone else say or do.

FRIENDS

It has been said that those who sin with you, will eventually be those who sin against you. It is imperative that we choose our friends very watchfully.
Are those closest to you a good influence on you, or do they bring you down? Are those around you someone you admire? It has been also said that bad company corrupts good morals.
Galations 6:7-10 The Living Bible
{7} Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!
{8} If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the good things of the Spirit, he will reap the everlasting life that The Holy Spirit gives him.
{9} And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.
{10} That’s why whenever we can we should always be kind to everyone, and especially to our Christian brothers and sisters.
