HALF SENSE & ONE EYE
Filed under: Words; No Commentsby Anthony N. Wade
It was my first trip to New Mexico, USA. I was visiting to do a series of meetings, as well as reconnect with some friends who had moved there. I was instrumental in leading one of my friends to The Lord Jesus Christ. As normal, I sang a couple of songs and commenced to minister the Word of God. During the ministry of the Word, I would often used different sayings that to me aided me in illustrating my points of view. One of the quotes I picked up was from a minister who was very instrumental in my ministry today. The saying I used was expounding on how simple some things are when it comes to living our life for the Lord. I used the saying about a person having ‘half sense and one eye.’ Little did I realize that there was a man with one eye in the service. This man was not only blind, he wore a black patch over one of his eyes.
In retrospect, if I had scanned the congregation thoroughly enough, I would have seen this man and not used that illustration. He was very noticeable, especially with a black patch on one of his eyes.
The pastor of this church confronted me about using the expression I had used. I apologized and told the pastor it was a slip of my tongue. What is the moral of this story? We should be aware of others in our presence who we could potentially hurt, offend, or put off, by repeating something we heard someone else say or do. — AWM

Love Spoken Here
Filed under: Words; No Commentsby Anthony N. Wade
In our home, on our refrigerator, there is a placard entitled “Love Spoken Here.” Not long ago I pondered the message of the card. The message is simple, yet very profound. It means that our words to one another should be filled with God’s Love for us as well as love for one another. Years ago I came across a little poem that depicts my subject.
~~ “WHAT IS LOVE” ~~
It is silence, when your words would hurt.
It is patience, when your neighbor is curt.
It is deafness, when a scandal flows.
It is thoughtfulness, for others woes.
It is promptness, when duty calls.
It is courage, when misfortune falls.
We must remember that our words and actions speak. They will speak the God Kind of Love or selfishness

Seasoned with Salt

Colossians 4:6 KJV
{6} Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
The Apostle Paul is letting us know the value of words. He says that our speech should always be with grace and seasoned. Grace is God’s ability to put us over any adverse situation we may face. Grace is also His favorable regard for who we are as His people. Our mouth should be full of His ability to put us over – on top. Our mouth should proclaim His favorable regard toward us. The above scripture encourages us how our conversation, coupled with our manner of life should be seasoned. Always connotes that we should never cease from speaking, or living this way. Everything about us should point toward this subject matter.
Think about it, if our speech and manner of life was peppered with the text, it would be the perfect answer to anyone we would encounter. As I think about it, salt is a preservative. My conclusion is we preserve ourselves and those who are within earshood of our speech. Our speech is the most powerful commodity that we have.
