A MERRY HEART
Filed under: Victorious Living; No CommentsA merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22
Have you ever been around someone that has a merry heart? They are the kind of person that no matter what they are going through or the circumstances they may be facing; they seem to sail right through them with the greatest of ease.
This kind of person has learned something about life that many of us can also learn. That is: “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” To the person that is merry, nothing can get them down. They have learned to roll with the punches that life can sometimes bring; and they have chosen to be merry, regardless of their situation.
Proverbs 17:22 tells us that a merry heart does good just like medicine. Being merry is like taking medicine. When the doctor tells us to take a medicine, that medication is prescribed to make us feel better inside and out. Emotionally and physically we feel better because we took our medicine. That’s what being merry is like. It’s like doing what the doctor has told us to do ?? and taking our medicine. Being merry is a matter of choice; it’s your decision. Being merry is like getting a check up, from the neck up. Being merry is like, “Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.” It’s simply your preference.
Did you notice what the rest of that verse said. It says a broken spirit dries up the
bones. Dried up bones are the consequences of not being merry. Severe conditions are many times the result of not taking your medicine, of a merry heart.
(See also Proverbs 15:13). In summation, it’s a matter of attitude. Our attitude toward things is likely to be more important than the things themselves. A.W. Tozer

THE WINNER’S EDGE
Filed under: Victorious Living; No CommentsIt was a year of the Summer Olympics. I was watching it on my television set. I was very impressed with one of the gymnasts in competition. This man had done an exceptional routine on the notorious High Bar. When it came time for him to get his score, the judges were very unfair. When the score was revealed, the commentators couldn’t believe their eyes. It was very low for what the man had just accomplished.
The camera panned over to the gymnast, and all you could see from my vantage point was a little shock as he slightly shook his head in disbelief. There was no outcry from him; he sat there very cool, calm and collected.
All of a sudden, the crowd started to boo in disapproval of the judges’ scores. The man just sat there realizing that the judges’ decree would stand.
However, the crowd had a different agenda concerning this man’s score. They were incensed with such an outlandish score—so much so that they continued to boo. They were unrelenting to the point that the commissioner of the judges came to see what created such an obstinate protest from the crowd.
Throughout the whole ordeal, the Olympian just sat there calmly. You could not at all tell that this man was uneasy—he was a class act in every sense of the word.
The commissioner encouraged the judges to change the score, but the crowd continued to boo. They felt as though the changed score was still too low.
In the meantime, the young man remained calm. There was no indication that this man felt he was being railroaded. Still, the crowd continued to roar with disapproval. It was so disturbing that the next gymnast on deck could not do his exercise.
What were they going to do? The crowd would not relent; they booed all the more. Unexpectedly, some of the people in the competition pointed to the man and encouraged him to come to the floor in hopes that he could settle the crowd.
He very graciously came, and with his hands thanked the crowd. Then, without delay, with his hands he asked the crowd to cease their protest. The crowd didn’t stop their protest all at once, but very slowly the loud roar diminished, and the games could continue.
The center of this whole account was the attitude of the lone Olympian who chose to maintain the right attitude, even when judged unfairly. He won the gold medal for his event, not only for his talent, but because of his attitude. What a remarkable example of integrity.
The winner’s edge is not in a gifted birth, in a high I.Q., or in talent. No, the winner’s edge is in a way of behaving. Too many people resist that notion. They want to believe that talent alone (or talent with experience) is enough.
No, my friend, the winner’s edge is maintaining the right mental attitude, even when we face adverse odds.

GO AHEAD…RUN & LEAP
Filed under: Victorious Living; No Commentsby Anthony N. Wade
Psalm 18:28 (kjv)
28 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Most of us have read of the exploits of King David. Two of them come to mind as I write this article to you. First we have him conquer the giant Goliath in 1Samuel 17, and also he overcame Saul when he wanted to kill him. If you read a few chapters before and after the victory he partook of with Goliath, you will find Saul was troubled by an “evil spirit.”
You must keep in mind that in some translations it states that an “evil spirit” came from the Lord. I submit to you that there are no “evil spirits” that come from the Lord. Why do I say this? In the so called Lords Prayer, it is stated for us to pray “Thy Will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven.” There is no evil in Heaven. The Bible tells us in John 10:10 that the thief (evil spirits) comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Anything that is stealing from you, killing you, and destroying you is not from God.
David was able to do his exploits because the Lords hand was upon him. The secret to David’s victories was that he knew how to get in the presence of God until his troubles went away.
In other words instead of grabbing the cookies and milk, he grabbed his harp, which created an anointing, which caused an atmosphere of worship. The highest type of faith is worship.
There is another scripture that speaks almost identically the same thing.2 Samuel 22:30 (kjv)
30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.As I pay particular attention to this whole chapter I first of all became conscious that it is almost like reading the Psalms. Verse one tells why this reads this way. David has been delivered from his enemies, including Saul. – Peace

FATHER GOD…CARES FOR US!
Filed under: Spiritual Growth, Victorious Living; No CommentsJohn 17:23 (The Amplified Bible)
{23} I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.Although it has been over two decades ago I have never gotten over the Revelation that God the Father loves me as much as He loves Jesus. Stop and think about our text. The Lord Jesus is praying, and He verbalizes that Father God’s love is the same for us as it is for Him. Up to that time I had never heard anyone expound on that passage in that way. It was worth it to move my family over 800 miles for the experiences that I gained.
It was more than our text that was a Revelation to me. To put it in a nutshell, I found out who I am, what I have, and what I can do IN HIM. It was a Revelation of what we have as a result of The Lord Jesus Christ coming to the Earth to die for the whole human race..
As I said before, I learned so much about what rightfully belongs to us as a result of attending this school. It was designed to teach and encourage us 80 to 90 percent of what I would have been taught in seminary. The greatest Revelation that has had an impact on my life as well as our text is How We Can Be Led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8.)
Romans 8:14-16 (21st Century KJV)
{14} For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. {15} For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, “Abba! Father!” {16} The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God;
It never ceases to amaze me how the Spirit of God leads and guides me. It is something that I look forward to daily. The key that I found is allowing myself to get quiet enough to hear His Voice.
Psalm 46:10
{10} Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted on the earth.
1 Kings 19:12
{12} And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
