Most of us have heard the old saying “out of sight, out of mind.” Or at one time or another we have made the statement, “I’ll believe it, when I see it. When it comes to trusting God neither one of those assertions are pleasing to Him. Why? Because the Mind of Christ is given to us by His Word ( 1 Cor. 2:16). My friend, as believers’ we should have the point of view that if God said it, that settles it and I believe it.

We must remember that when it comes to the things of God we can’t base our life with Him by what we see, or by what we feel (2 Corinthians 5:7). Now I am not so obtuse to think that God does not at times meet us in the realm of sight or sometimes feelings, but sight and feelings cannot be the motivating factor for the believer. Jesus gave us an encouraging factor that we must consider when it comes to our approach to God.

    John 14:16-18 KJV

    {16} And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;

{17} Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. {18} I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

The first thing we must reflect on is the fact that Jesus said that He would pray to The Father to give us another Comforter. The Holy Ghost Comforter is not just given to us, but He will abide with us forever. Forever is a long time. This is what I mean: From the time you gave your life to The Lord Jesus Christ, God the Holy Ghost has been working in your life. He has not only been working — He will never leave you. He will abide with you from now until eternity rolls.

The Holy Ghost is our Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. Jesus said He The Holy Ghost would be those attributes for us now and ever more.

A number of years ago I was driving to a series of meetings. On my way there I was conversing with the Lord about a situation that was troubling me. I had a verbal altercation with an individual that to my knowledge was no fault of mine. Honestly, I could not figure out how to repair this impasse.

During my fellowship with the Lord, He communicated something with me that I never expected to hear. Now that I look back on it I realize what He said to me was a command. Holy Spirit is a viable, vibrate part of my life. He is as Jesus said, “The Comforter.” As well as being Comforter, He is a Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Standby. He is our Divine Teacher and Guide. He shows us things to come through Visions and Dreams. He is our Senior Partner.

He said to me to apologize to the person we were conversing about. I shouted loudly back to Him, “I’M NOT GOING TO DO THAT!” What happened next I never will forget, as long as there is breathe in my body. In my vehicle it got inharmoniously quiet.

Right away I knew what I had done. I had grieved Him. I have never experienced anything like this before. The only way I can explain it is like the little boy who has a bag full of marbles. Well, I was the little boy and I punched a big hole in my bag. So down the road I went all alone – so it seemed. I was vigorously trying to gather my marbles.

I thought I had grieved Him to the point that He would never speak to me again. He did choose to be quiet until I agreed to do what I was commanded to do. I did do what was asked of me and all worked out well. He was endeavoring to get me to be a bigger person. -Peace

I was not Born-Again yet, but my first experience with “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit” was very alarming for me. It was a funeral of a relative. These particular relatives were Pentecostal. During the funeral service there was a little woman in a white dress who ran around the inside of the sanctuary chanting in other tongues. I had never seen anything like this, so you can imagine that my young eyes and mind were filled with amazement.

I remember asking my mother what was this lady doing? She softly told me she was speaking in other tongues.

I was not aware of this experience but later in my young adult life would have an encounter with this gift from God (Acts 2:4,17). I was a counselor at one of the first Billy Graham movies that was geared toward bringing converts into the Kingdom of God. The movie was “ A Time to Run.” After the movie my girlfriend and I were invited to go to a Christian bookstore across from the theater where the movie was playing.

The minister who invited us was the co-owner of the bookstore and he introduced us to the “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 19:1-6). I never have forgotten this encounter as it has been one of the cornerstones of my life for over three decades. Although I did not receive a fluent language that day, I did receive a few words. I practiced those words until something happened.

    THE HONEY BUCKET

As I said, I would practice those words, but one day I hit a gusher. The only way I know how to explain it is it felt like a warm bucket of honey running down my head and all over the upper part of my body. I remember where I was at the time. I was in Findlay,OH walking down one of the main streets of that city. As I practiced my new found experience, Jesus baptized me anew with a language that I had never learned before — I call it the honey bucket. Incidentally, my girlfriend who was with me at the beginning of this piece, has been my wife for 36 years at the time of this writing. -AWM

I have never forgotten my first trip to the State of New York. It was upstate — to the city of Elmira. The church was a small community of believers. The Pastor and his wife were very modest people. I was there Sunday morning and evening. What transpired the morning after, was far from what I expected.

The morning after the meetings, I was scheduled to depart for home. However, God had other plans for me besides heading back to my hometown. While the Pastor’s wife and I were seated at the kitchen table, she began to ask me questions concerning my ministry.

As I answered her questions, we fellowshipped, and then she began to exhort me concerning what she perceived about my ministry. She encouraged me to begin calling people out in my meetings, and to minister prophetically to them.

I had always wanted to operate this way but was a little intimidated to do so because I didn’t want to be inaccurate, or for people to view me in an ill-defined way. To be honest with you, it was the fear of man — coupled with the fear of the unknown, as well as the fear of failure. It would take a step of faith for me to begin to function this way. Until that time I had always reserved ministering this way for the prayer line. In the prayer line it was comfortable for me while praying for the needs of the people to shift into a psalmist—prophetic type of anointing.

It was a little uneasy for me to call people out from the pulpit while speaking. To obey God in this fashion I had to leave my comfort zones, and lay aside the fear of man — the fear of the unknown — and the fear of failure.

Well, I overcame all three fears and began to call people out. Yes, I was a little awkward at first, but as I began to flow this way, it became easier, and easier. It became the standard for me while speaking “The Word,” to see things about people, then I would ask them to stand and then share with them what I detected. That type of anointing usually comes on me, when I am in the pulpit. It does happen when I am not teaching, but generally it is coupled with teaching “The Word.”

When I follow the flow of “The Holy Ghost,” it never ceases to amaze me what He shows me. At times He doesn’t give me the freedom to call people out, publicly but the message I have for them is integrated in the teaching of “The Word.” Why? Because “The Holy Spirit” is a Gentleman. He would not embarrass anyone or make a public display of them, to the point of damaging or humiliating them. -AWM

It was the State of Florida. I was once again doing a series of meetings. My normal mode of ministry is to sing two or three songs to set the atmosphere for the 'Ministry of the Word.' The Word of God is peppered with 'Words of Knowledge,' 'Personal Prophesy;' as well as 'Demonstrations of The Holy Ghost' (Hebrews 2:4).

As I was teaching 'The Word,' I could tell that the atmosphere was charged with an 'Outstanding Presence.' During the teaching the congregation was really with me. They were very expectant of a move of God. As I continued teaching, it was as if I was in a cubical. The only way I can explain it is this cube-like form was full of 'God's Glory' — 'His Presence.' It sure made my job easy that evening, as I just followed the leading of 'Holy Ghost.' While sharing the message I was very sensitive to 'Holy Spirit.' I didn't want to do anything that would grieve Him, and cause Him to depart (Ephesians 4:30).

As previously stated, I was in a cubical of 'God's Glory.' Sometime during the midst of this, I felt someone touch my right hip. There was no one physically close to me so I knew it was 'Holy Spirit' speaking to me.

After I felt someone touch my right hip, I responded with a 'Word of Knowledge' (1 Corinthians 12:8) . I knew that someone in the congregation was having trouble with their right hip. So I called it out to the congregation. I simply asked, “Is there anyone here having trouble with your right hip”? Sure enough, there was a woman sitting in the congregation to my right with a hindrance in her right hip. I had a woman lay hands on her, in her hip area, as I prayed (Mark 16:18; Hebrews 6:2). The woman felt the 'Power of God' go into her hip and was immediately healed. Many other things happened during this series of meetings, but nothing as phenomenal as what I am about to tell you. A man came up to me at the close of the service, and asked to talk with me.

I granted him the freedom to speak to me. He at once began telling me that he saw my angel. He said the angel would bend over and whisper something in my ear, and then I would speak it out. He went on to tell me that my angel was huge in stature. He (my angel) was not a little fellow, but he stood several feet tall.

This is my explanation, to why I had the feeling in my right hip. My angel tapped me in my right hip, and I just called it out. There are over 250 references in the Bible to the ministry of angels. No, they are not little fat babies with wings as some artists have portrayed. They have a valid ministry to you and me, if only we would believe (Hebrews 1:14 NIV).

    Hebrews 13:2 The Living Bible

{2} Don't forget to be kind to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! -AWM
