THINGS WILL BE ADDED !
Filed under: Victorious Living; No CommentsMatthew 6:33 KJV
{33} But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Amplified Bible
{33} But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His Kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given to you besides.
After becoming a God fearing person we will and should be challenged with character issues. One of these subjects will be, where we are concerning the acquisition of things.
There are those who have put the possession of things as their number one priority. They categorically view themselves and others by that standard. This my friend is a trap. We should never judge others and especially ourselves by this monetary system. Why? Number 1. We can’t take it with us. Number 2. Our lives should never be founded on the things we posses.
Luke 12:15 KJV
{15} And He said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Now, there are those who have gone to the other side and entered a ditch of taking a vow of poverty. To be honest with you, to base your life on your possessions, or to take a vow of poverty, is not pleasing to God. When it comes to these issues, we should stay in the middle of the road, avoiding both ditches. A good test for us to take can be found in our scripture texts. Are we seeking first His Kingdom and His righteousness? If we are, Jesus said things will be added to us. To keep this declaration of thought in context, we need to back up to find out what things He is talking about.
In verse 20 Jesus is exhorting us to lay up treasure in Heaven, where neither moth, rust, “or men can corrupt or steal. Verse 21: He said, “Where your treasure is, is where your heart will be”. We can say that backwards! Where your heart is, is where your treasure will be. To save space and time, let’s look at verse 25. Jesus said, to “take no thought for your life.” From that point on the subject shifted to our thought life until the end of the chapter. Verse 27: He said “which of you by taking thought?” Verse 28: He asked the question “and why take ye thought?” In the 31st. We are exhorted to “take no thought saying.” This infers that the thought is not taken or becomes a part of who we are, until it is spoken.
Think of this, our thoughts do not have the possibility of becoming a part of our lives, until we begin to speak them. A good example of that is salvation. You never became a New Creation until you spoke the words concerning the New Birth. (Romans 10:9-10, 13). We should put a high value on what we say. Why? Because it reveals where we are, and where we are going. In verse 34, Jesus said, to “take no thought for the morrow.”
He mentioned five times in this passage about our thoughts. My friend God is not opposed to us having things. However, He is opposed to things having us. We can rest assure that if we are seeking first His Kingdom, good things will be added. -AWM
