    THE TABLE of MY HEART

    Filed under: Uncategorized;

    There are several scriptures which refer to writing. First of all, we look at what is said in Psalms.

    Psalms 45:1 (KJV)

    {1} My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

    In this verse, the tongue is liken to that of a pen. Not just a pen of a writer, but a ready writer. The tongue must be as skillful as a ready writer. The tongue must also be as discriminating as a ready writer.

    A ready writer doesn’t just allow anything to come across his or her pen. Neither should we just allow anything to come across our tongue and lips. In the above verse, speaking is put in the same category as writing. Where are we writing? On the table of our heart. A table is a piece of furniture that holds things. I am thinking of a kitchen table that holds food. Most of the things we partake of or eat, would be on a kitchen table.

    Proverbs 18:20-21 (NKJV)

    {20} A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

    {21} Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

    Notice the writer says a man’s belly will be filled. How? By the words of his mouth. The increase of his lips fill him. According to verse twenty one, that increase is either good or evil, death or life. By the words of our mouth, we set the table. By the words of our mouth, we eat the fruit that we have put on that table. The table is the part of our heart that holds our mind, will, and emotions. If we don’t like what we are eating, the best thing to do is to change what we put on the table of our heart— alter what we are saying. How? By having enough discipline to put a watch on our words. Are you speaking life to your life or something that will not satisfy? Are you satisfied by what you have on your table? If not change your words. Is your tongue the pen of a ready writer? -AWM
