    MIXED COUPLE

    Filed under: Relationships;

    Recently someone close to me was describing a telephone conversation they had with a potential customer. During this conversation the marriage of my wife and me came up.
    The person in passing referred to our marriage as a “mixed couple.” In the eyes of the secular world that would be correct. My wife and I not only come from a different background, we also come from different races.

    The reference the secular world and even some God fearing people give us is mixed. However, according to scriptural terms that is not correct. I will go as far and say that that term borders on racism. This is what I mean. Because my wife and I were and are God-fearing persons we are from the same race – a holy nation.

    1 Peter 2:9-10 (KJV)

    {9} But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light:

    {10} Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

    We both have embraced Christianity. We are a part of a chosen generation, a holy nation, a peculiar people. Our natural identity has no affect on our marriage. Why? Because it is our spiritual heritage that is predominate. All to often people base the term a “mixed couple” on the color of a persons skin. My questions to you is what constitutes an interracial marriage, a mixed couple — the color of a persons skin or their national heritage?

    What about their spiritual heritage? There are people who are the same color physically, yet come from different backgrounds. That constituents what some term as a “mixed couple.” Yet, they for the most part are never looked on as that. That my friend in my view is a form of racism. It is a pre-judgment. In the day we are living in it is time that the people of God get their act together. Let's quit basing so much on outward appearances. In short, we need to base things on a persons heart. Not the external. -AWM

    1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)

    {7}…..for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance,
    but the LORD looketh on the heart.
