CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH ?
Filed under: Spiritual Growth; No CommentsThis teaching has it’s inception in a major motion picture. The movie was produced a number of years ago. The title of this writing is a rendition of a statement made in the film, with a slightly different twist. There are certain points of view in The Word of God which some have said are promises. Extensive study of these points of view have proven that they are not promises at all. They are facts — truth. What I will do in this written material is share simple truths that you can base your life upon. These truths are taken from “The Book of Truth”— “The Word of God.” Jesus prayed a prayer in the book of John
…THY WORD IS TRUTH
This content is taken from a prayer that Jesus prayed concerning His followers. I personally believe that that prayer was answered. He said, Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17 (NKJV). As we embrace The Word we are sanctified. The more Word we allow into our lives, the more solid our sanctification becomes. Sanctification begins with believing on, and accepting The Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. At the “New Birth” we were sanctified. To be sanctified means to be set apart. This word is used in the New Testament to define the separation of the believer from evil things and ways.I IN THEM, AND YOU IN ME
I never will forget when this verse came alive to me. I was in my second year of ministerial training at Rhema Bible Training Center, Broken Arrow, OK. The instructor was teaching on John 17:23. From that day until this, I have never been the same.John 17:23 (NKJV)
{23} I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect (spiritually mature) in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
This verse is full of so much truth that by embracing it, we change. This verse has so many levels of truth in it, I don’t have space or tine to write about it all. However, the last phrase seems to say it completely. ….And have loved them as You have loved Me. Wow! Can you imagine? The same love that God has for His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, He has for you and me. It doesn’t get any better than that. That day in class, I wept like a baby. I had been a Christian for six years, but no one had ever explained this truth quite this way. I have never been the same!
MORE THAN A CONQUEROR
In Romans the eight chapter the Apostle Paul asks some very probing questions.Romans 8:33-39 (NKJV)
{33} Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
{34} Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
{35} Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
{36} As it is written:”For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” {37} Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
{38} For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
{39} nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It is safe to say that because nothing shall separate us from the love of God, we have all the authority we need. Why do I make such a statement? Well, it is His love that is our foundation. We build our ability on this truth. Knowing that He loves us gives us the power — intestinal fortitude to overcome every obstacle we face. His love will back us up each time we encounter any obstacle from the kingdom of darkness. Our authority as believers is effective in three worlds — Heaven, Earth, and Hell. Using our authority moves Heaven, astonishes Earth, and defeats Hell.
Matthew 16:19 (The Living Bible)
{19} And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; whatever doors you lock on earth shall be locked in Heaven; and whatever doors you open on earth shall be open in Heaven!”
“OUR AUTHORITY AS BELIEVER’S IS EFFECTIVE IN THREE WORLDS – HEAVEN, EARTH, AND HELL.”
BY HIS STRIPES, WE ARE HEALED
This truth has it’s foundation in Isaiah 53.Isaiah 53:4-5 (RSV)
{4} Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
{5} But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
upon Him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with His stripes we are healed. These two verses give us a look at the front of the cross. However, we really need to focus our attention at the backside of the the cross. Looking forward to what Jesus was going to do and did on the Cross was exciting – WE ARE HEALED! To be honest with you by looking at the finished work of Calvary, we should be thrilled even more. YOU WERE HEALED! (1Peter 2:24). My conclusion is if we were…then we are…if we are…then we is. We is healed! (smile) (3 John 2). Again, If we were, we are. If we are, we is. We is healed (Psalm 107:20).
THE GREATER ONE IS INSIDE
This portion of this article finds it’s root in the latter part of 1 John 4:41 John 4:4 (NAS)
….because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
I am reminded of a story that I heard years ago about a son – in – law who smoked cigars. He would blow cigar smoke in his father – in – law’s face. This would extremely agitate the father
- in – law.Instead of getting agitated to the point of a physical altercation, the father in law would speak under his breath “….GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.”
Now, your experience may not be this extreme, or maybe it is worse than the father- in- law’s. In any event, it is your experience and you are the one who has to deal with it. It is learning to lean — lean on someone Who is bigger than you and me. His Name is “The Holy Spirit.” He is the One Who will put us over everytime, IF we learn to let Him fight our battles for us.

“MY CONCLUSION IS, IF WE WERE…THEN WE ARE …, IF WE ARE … THEN WE IS… WE IS HEALED.”
WE HAVE BEEN MADE RIGHTEOUS
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV){21} For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
What a powerful truth for us to embrace. Can you handle it? Because of His work on the Cross, going to the regions of the damned, then raising triumphantly, we have been made the righteousness of God in Him. Of course, Jesus did not sin; however, He was made to be sin . He wore sin like you wear an article of clothing. In other words, He embraced sin for all of mankind, so that human beings would not have to go to hell. He already went there for us. If you go to hell, it is because you rejected what Jesus did for you at Calvary.(John 12:45-48.)
Again, you don’t have to go to hell! We can know for sure that our destination is Heaven. He was made sin for all of mankind, so that we could become righteous – the righteousness of God in Christ. See also Romans 5:7-19 * Romans 10:1- 4 * 1 John 3:5-7. Years ago a man wrote a song with a catch phrase, “If there’s hell below, we’re all gonna go.” Well, there is a hell below, but I ain’t gonna go. -AWM
“IF YOU GO TO HELL IT IS BECAUSE YOU REJECTED WHAT JESUS DID FOR YOU AT CALVARY.”
