AS BRIGHT AS THE STARS
Filed under: Uncategorized;1 Commentby Anthony N. Wade
Many of us have heard the quote “Your Future Is As Bright As The Stars.” Not too
long ago I made that statement to an associate of mine. After reflecting on what I had said,
I realized how scriptural that quotation really is.Proverbs 4:18 in the New American Standard portrays it this way.
{18} But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter
and brighter until the full day.You and I can see the stars from many miles away; consider how bright they must be for us to see them from such a distance. With the naked eye we can’t measure how bright they are. That is how bright your future is. It is so bright, that we in actuality, cannot measure it.
You might be thinking, “But you don’t understand my background, we are from the wrong side of the tracks; my family tree is not very good.” Someone else might say “All of our family is as crooked as a dog’s hind legs; we can’t possibly amount to anything.”
Well, in Genesis the fifteenth chapter we see the encounter that Abram (Abraham) had with God. Through a vision, God is encouraging Abram not to be afraid and that He was his exceeding great reward. Abram retorts back to God with, “What good are your blessings? “You have not given me any seed; I am childless.
In verse five God responds to Abrams petition.
Genesis 15:5-6 (TLB)
{5} Then God brought Abram outside beneath the night time sky and told
him look into the heavens and count the stars if you can. Your
descendants will be like that, too many to count.”{6} And Abram believed God; then God considered him righteous on
account of his faith. In so many words God told Abram that his future was as bright as the stars. In Genesis 26:4 God reminds Isaac what He told his father Abram.
Genesis 26:4 (Complete Jewish Bible)
{4} I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, I will give all these lands to your descendants, and by your descendants all the nations of the earth will bless themselves.
In the New Testament, the book of Hebrews gives an account of the same story with a slightly different twist.
Hebrews 11:11-12 (NIV)
{11} By faith Abraham, even though he was past age-and Sarah herself was barren-was enabled to become a father-because he considered him faithful who had made the promise.
{12} And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). If He would do it for Abraham, He will do it for you and me. Perhaps your circumstances are a little different than Abrahams, but even so, He is your exceeding great reward. He is waiting on us to get to the place where we realize that in and of ourselves, we can’t make it happen. No, my brother/sister we must learn to lean on the Power of God within us, to accomplish the objectives that are before us.
The task before Abraham was huge after he petitioned God for a child. God went the extra mile in meeting His promise. Abraham’s future was as bright as the stars. God exceeded everything that Abraham could even ask, or think (Ephesians 3:20).
God did what He said He would do; and He will do the same for you. There is something within you crying out for more of God and you will not be disappointed, because it is in His Name that the two of you are jointed.
2 Peter 1:19 (NKJV)
{19} And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which ye do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart.
As the 'Morning Star' arises in your heart your future is intact. He’s simply waiting for you to act. To act on His Word that’s true, to act on that which was told you. Yes, my friends, it is not that far; for your future is as bright as the stars.
