Colossians 4:6 KJV
{6} Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
The Apostle Paul is letting us know the value of words. He says that our speech should always be with grace and seasoned. Grace is God's ability to put us over any adverse situation we may face. Grace is also His favorable regard for who we are as His people. Our mouth should be full of His ability to put us over – on top. Our mouth should proclaim His favorable regard toward us. The above scripture encourages us how our conversation, coupled with our manner of life should be seasoned. Always connotes that we should never cease from speaking, or living this way. Everything about us should point toward this subject matter.
Think about it, if our speech and manner of life was peppered with the text, it would be the perfect answer to anyone we would encounter. As I think about it, salt is a preservative. My conclusion is we preserve ourselves and those who are within earshood of our speech. Our speech is the most powerful commodity that we have.
