    A MERRY HEART

    Filed under: Victorious Living;

    A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22

    Have you ever been around someone that has a merry heart? They are the kind of person that no matter what they are going through or the circumstances they may be facing; they seem to sail right through them with the greatest of ease.

    This kind of person has learned something about life that many of us can also learn. That is: “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” To the person that is merry, nothing can get them down. They have learned to roll with the punches that life can sometimes bring; and they have chosen to be merry, regardless of their situation.

    Proverbs 17:22 tells us that a merry heart does good just like medicine. Being merry is like taking medicine. When the doctor tells us to take a medicine, that medication is prescribed to make us feel better inside and out. Emotionally and physically we feel better because we took our medicine. That’s what being merry is like. It’s like doing what the doctor has told us to do ?? and taking our medicine. Being merry is a matter of choice; it’s your decision. Being merry is like getting a check up, from the neck up. Being merry is like, “Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.” It’s simply your preference.

    Did you notice what the rest of that verse said. It says a broken spirit dries up the
    bones. Dried up bones are the consequences of not being merry. Severe conditions are many times the result of not taking your medicine, of a merry heart.
    (See also Proverbs 15:13). In summation, it’s a matter of attitude.

    Our attitude toward things is likely to be more important than the things themselves. A.W. Tozer
