THE DINNER BELL
Filed under: Healing; No CommentsSeveral years ago, in the early farming days there used to be a bell that hung out by the farmhouse. That bell’s purpose was to call for the farmers for meal time. It basically would be rung for one reason – it was dinner time.
During the years of the Healing Revival in mid to late forties there was an evangelist by the name of Raymond T. Richey. He had a marvelous miracle ministry. It is noted and photographed the numerous crunches, braces, and remedial aids etc., that were discarded because they were no longer needed. It is reported that Mr. Richey had a catchphrase. The phrase was that “Divine Healing” was “The Dinner Bell.” Mr. Richey rang that bell, and people came from numerous walks of life, young and old.
In my study of The Word of God it is Gods will to heal today. The gifts of The Spirit did not go out with the last Apostle, as some have so erroneously stated. Healing is for all, as the scriptures so eloquently affirm and announce. In fact one of the major ministries of Jesus was healing the sick. The only thing that stopped Him and caused Him to marvel was the unbelief of the people in Mark 6:5. He marveled at their unbelief, and could there do no mighty work It didn’t say He wouldn’t, it says that He couldn’t. He could only help those with minor ailments. If I am not mistaken the only thing that caused Him to marvel was their UNBELIEF. On the contrary He marveled because of the centurions’ faith (Matthew 8: 5-10).
Is it any different today? Can unbelief be one of those things that keep God’s healing power at bay for us today? We must ask ourselves this question. Is unbelief keeping me from one of God’s greater blessings? We must keep in mind that Jesus went to the Cross to redeem us from poverty, sickness, and spiritual death. Jesus also said:
Luke 4:18 (KJV)
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, -Peace
